New York RN License Process – Step by Step

1.) Complete New York State’s Required Coursework

• You must complete a NYSED Approved Infection Control Course and a Child Abuse Identification and Reporting Course from an approved provider.

2.) Complete and Submit the Online Application

  • If you do not fully complete the application in one sitting, use the link below to access and complete it:
    • https://eservices.nysed.gov/professions/continue.
  • If you need to upload additional documentation after the application has been submitted, use the link below:
    • https://eservices.nysed.gov/professions/addl-doc/.
  • Submit Payment via credit card for $143 ($70 application $73 registration).

3.) Education Verification – Official Transcript & Form2 (Education form)

1. Submit Official Transcript(s):
   
   1. Order Transcripts via sites: www.parchment.com or www.studentclearinghouse.org OR directly from your school:
      
      1. Send to dpiseduc@nysed.gov.
2. IF YOU COMPLETED NURSING SCHOOL IN FLORIDA, YOU MUST ALSO DO THE FOLLOWING:
   
   1. Complete and have your School submit the Certificate of Professional Education Form (Form 2 or Form 2F).
   2. Send the Form to your nursing school institution to complete section 2.
   3. *****If you attended nursing school in another country – you must fill out Form 2F – Make sure to inform your licensing advocate if you need this form.
3. Section 2 of the Cert of Professional Education Form MUST be completed by your Nursing School Institution:
   
   1. Form must be completed and signed by the registrar’s office.
   2. The Form and Transcript must be returned to the following address:
      • EMAIL – dplseduc@nysed.gov.
      • OR
      • Regular Mail:
        • New York State Education Department
        • Office of Professions, Division of Professional Licensing Services
        • Nurse Unit
        • 89 Washington Avenue, Albany, NY 12234-1000

4.) Submit Verification of RN License for any other states you hold licensure

1. If the state of licensure is a Nursys participant, order the verification using the following site:
   
   1. https://www.nursys.com/NLV/NLVTerms.aspx.
   2. Verification Cost – $30 – pay online via Nursys.
2. If the state does not participate in Nursys verifications, you must submit the New York Verification of Other Professional Licensure Form to that state’s BON.
